What's more Colorado than building your own ski or snowboard? Meier Skis has new dates available for our ski and snowboard-building classes. Our expert ski builders will work side-by-side with you to help craft the perfect ski or snowboard for your unique skiing style and ability.
With only 4 people per class (first come, first serve), this hands-on experience takes place over two consecutive days from 12 PM - 5 PM. The class ends with seeing your brand-new ski or snowboard come out of the press! Pickup (shipping available) your finished skis or board one week later and get ready for an unforgettable winter of fun on the slopes on the skis or board YOU built!
Reserve your class date with a $1,500 deposit. With only 4 spots per class, these will go fast! Customer service will then reach out to finalize your ski or snowboard model and graphic choice and will send an invoice for the remaining balance.
Day 1 is all about the components! You'll participate in gluing and re-sawing the core and will cut out your ski or board core and base. Next, you'll attach the sidewall to the core, taper it and more! You'll wrap up day 1 with finished cores and bases.
Day 2 is in the press room (fun!) with graphic and material prep and laying up your brand-new skis or snowboard to cook in our custom built ski press! Come back in a week to peel and cheers your new gear (shipping also available).
I’ve had a vision for a new shape for a pair of skis or snowboard. Do I get to build whatever I want? No, you must build one of our pre-existing proven models/lengths. With over 20 models, there are a TON of options! You can design your own graphic.
Do I get to pick my own graphic? Yes, you have a choice of standard, semi-custom and full custom which involves you working with one of our graphic designers. The pricing for the different graphics is listed above, but the process starts by reserving your date with the $1500 deposit. There are only 4 slots per 2-day class!
Do I get to pick my own dates to do this? No, we have scheduled dates you must choose from.
How long does it take to build my own skis or snowboard? The class is run in two consecutive days for about 5 hours each day from 12 PM - 5 PM. Pickup or shipping is one week later.
Can I have my friend or spouse join me? We discourage this due to space limitations and for safety reasons. There is a $250/day fee per person if you would like someone to watch while you build your skis. They can only observe (no hands-on).
Are meals and beverages included? Yes, we keep you well hydrated and well fed to get the job done!
What if I make a mistake and mess up my build? Our ski builders complete the highest consequence tasks, and you have the choice to opt out of any step you're not comfortable executing. Don’t worry, we’re there to work with you every step of the way!
I’m interested in having my son/daughter do this so wondering if this is possible? Yes, they must be 16 and have their parent/guardian sign our waivers.
What do I need to wear? You will need to wear non-slip close-toed shoes. Please wear old shorts/pants/shirt that are comfortable and are okay to get dirty with sawdust, fiberglass, plastics and epoxy. Clothes should not be overly baggy as excessive fabric can present issues with machinery.
Do I need woodworking or other hands-on experience? Although it would certainly be helpful, you do not need any previous experience.
Are the skis and snowboards still under warranty?Yes, you still get our industry-leading 3-year warranty against manufacturing defects.

Ted and his crew have developed the ultimate experience for any ski/snowboard fan, enthusiast, aficionado, or just plain nerd! The BYOSS program was one of the coolest things I’ve done and I’ll remember it forever. Taking wood and material through all the stages of ski making and ending up with a beautiful final product (handmade by YOU) is just an amazing experience and I would highly recommend it. Big shoutout to Ted and his team for welcoming us to the Craft Skiery, explaining the process, fixing our little screw-ups along the way, keeping it low key and fun, and rewarding us with a cold beer and the most unique pair of skis anyone could have. Kudos to Meier Skis!
I did this. If you appreciate handmade quality and have pride in something you did or built yourself, it’s amazing. I really had no idea on all the steps required to build a high end wood core ski. The Meier crew was great (ie. patient) working with us woodworking newbies. Seeing your ski complete was truly exciting and the camaraderie of a shared experience over beer at the end was memorable.
Awesome shop and a great group of folks working there. Super helpful, and the BYOS option makes for a super cool experience.
I recently had the opportunity to participate in a Meier "Build Your Own Ski" class, and I must say, it was an absolutely incredible experience that exceeded all my expectations! From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere was buzzing with excitement. The instructors were not only knowledgeable but also incredibly passionate about skiing. They guided us through the process of selecting materials and components for our custom skis, explaining the significance of each choice. It was fascinating to learn about the different types of wood, flex patterns, and designs that would ultimately affect performance on the slopes. The hands-on aspect of the class was truly engaging. We were involved in every step, from shaping the skis to applying the final finishes. I loved the creative freedom to design my own ski graphics, which made my finished product feel uniquely mine. The camaraderie among participants added to the experience, as we shared laughs and ideas while working side by side. Overall, this class was not just about skiing; it was about creativity, craftsmanship, and community. I walked away with a newfound appreciation for the sport and a custom pair of skis that I’ll cherish for years to come. I highly recommend this experience to anyone, whether you're a beginner or an experienced skier looking to deepen your connection to the sport. It’s an adventure you won’t want to miss! -Cris
