Meet The Meier Team - Matt Wood

Hi Meier fam! My Name is Matt Wood, and I’m super stoked to be joining the Meier team this year. I grew up in Boulder, Colorado and have been on snow for as long as I can remember. I grew up ski racing at Eldora Mountain Resort, and grew a love for free skiing between gate runs. After High School, I moved to Bozeman, Montana to study Avalanches and Snow Science at Montana State University.

I am the Founder of the Freeriders at MSU big mountain ski team, and my hobbies include sardine packing into hotel rooms, poutine, and stormchasing. I was lucky enough to compete and win in the Red Bull Bracket Reel video competition, which ended with a filming trip to the mind-bending terrain at SEABA heli skiing in Haines, Alaska.

I’ve been able to travel, ski and maintain a full course load at MSU for my entire time here, I’ve been lucky enough to host ski movie premiers (the proceeds of which allow the big mountain team to travel for free all winter) and am stoked to have been able to learn about avalanches and all the associated weather from some of the best in the business (shout out to MSU Snow Science Department!).
