Stake Your Claim

Meier took feedback from heli and cat skiing operations to find out what they most want and need in a powder ski. The exciting result is the Claim Jumper.

This ski built for big mountain powder skiing was featured in The Daily, which highlights the noteworthy products as the official publication of Outdoor Retailer (article follows).

Powder Poacher

by Cameron Martindell, 2020 Outdoor + Snow Show

Mining for white gold? Here's the ski to stake your claim on epic fresh lines.

Colorado-based custom ski maker Meier Skis tapped heli-skiing operations to find out what their guides and clients most want and (maybe more important) need in a powder ski. The result is the Claim Jumper - a name that unites the line under the common theme of mining, a nod to Colorado's 1880s heritage... Dimensions for the backcountry-worthy Claim Jumper are 149-124-140 with a 22m turn radius (in the 185cm length). The girthy waist fills a gap in the brand's 19-model lineup between existing skis with 110mm and 130mm waist widths. Consumers can buy the Claim Jumper in shops or custom order it with their own personalized graphics from Meier's Denver-based factory.

This ski is part of our Secret Stash build-to-order collection and ships in 3-4 weeks. The secret stash isn't sitting in the cupboard waiting for love - we're gonna build it fresh, just for you.

Local Nod

Ever scoped the most epic powder line only for someone to swoop in and claim your stake? Meant for the people that get that epic powder before the others.

Absolute weapons

Reading the description, I was excited at the thought of skiing them. Seeing them in person, I was blown away at the craftsmanship. Skiing them, I'm an assassin! I work as a cat and heli guide in British Columbia, and I get to try a variety of skis in mostly incredible, but sometimes variable conditions. I've now spent 3 weeks on the Claim Jumpers. I wanted to wait to make a review until I got to know them pretty well. Well, to be honest, I can't really come up with a bad thing to say, so on with the good. Shape- early rise tip with with the underfoot and tail being flat. The tip keeps them afloat and the flat tail helps them hold a very true line (the don't wash out on turns like an early rise tail would). Radius- at 22m, it's kind of a perfect balance. You can make wiggle turns if you want, or lean in to them and go full super G. Flex- they have a semi soft tip that allows for float in deep conditions, but get progressively stiffer fairly quickly. This really helps dampen the ski at speed and makes it feel completely solid when your going faster than you should be. Platform- built to stomp landings. Period. Overall, I'm very impressed with this ski, in every way. Visually they are like a piece of artwork. Technically they are design and constructed to the highest standard (I've had handmade skis in the past, and nothing compares to the craftsmanship of these skis). And from a fun and soulful perspective, these are just a fun and responsive ski, that makes you want to have an extra 1000ft on every run and 3 hours of extra daylight. Over the last few years, I've been switching back and forth between a few different skis at work. Bent Chetlers, JJs, Renegades, Hojis. I've got a new favorite, and there has been no switching back and forth since I've had the Claim Jumpers. They are superior. Simple as that. Of note, I have them mounted at the recommended position, and I like them like that. I still have ample tail behind me. But, if you like to scrub turns, or are used to a center mounted ski, you may want to go 1 or 2 cm forward on your mounting. 5 stars, 2 thumbs and a red lined stoke meter.
